Karuna College Lecturers:

Hildegarde Corris:

Hildegarde (Hilly) Corris is our resident Remedial Massage Therapist at Karuna Clinic and Senior Lecturer at Karuna College. She teaches Communication & Practice Management and Massage 3 (Remedial) in the Certificate IV. She also teaches the three special units in the Diploma: Corporate, Athletes and Women's and Children's Massage Requirements.

Hilly enjoys reading, learning, practising and teaching complementary therapies, particularly Remedial Massage. She is an avid watcher of all sport and practices Kundalini Yoga. She enjoys swimming and fossiking.

John Delaney:

Has been working in the field of sports injuries for some 25 years. He has for many years been sports masseur and strapper at the Shamrocks Rugby Club. His seniority and expertise were acknowledged in 2000 when he was invited to be on the sports massage team at the Sydney Paralympics.

John heads our sports massage department and also runs the Student Clinic, in which our students gain hands on experience in managing sporting injuries. He has a Diploma of Remedial Massage, and a Certificate IV in Assessment and Training.

 

Jon Gamble:

Jon teaches the Symptomatology, Assessment & Treatment Plans module. Jon has been in full time practice since 1987. His treatment modalities are naturopathy, homeopathy, and manual therapy.

He has diplomas in homeopathy, naturopathy and remedial massage. He has also studied Arts/Law at Monash University.

Jon specialises in treating chronic or stubborn ailments, which have not responded to orthodox treatment.

He has a particular interest in the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome, and paediatric health. His personal interest is Buddhism and cross-cultural activities.

 

Graham Wykes:

Graham lectures in Anatomy & Physiology at Karuna College. He has a B Sc in Anatomy, a Dip Ed, Certificate IV in Assessment and Training, and a Diploma of Remedial Massage.

Graham has taught for many years in the field of sciences, both in secondary school and also at university level.

As well as a dynamic teacher, he is also a musician.

 

Greg Wythes:

Greg has taught the Swedish massage module at Karuna College since 1999.

Greg has a Bachelor of Education degree and a Diploma in Remedial Massage, and as well is a yoga teacher of over 20 years experience.

He has had a long term interest in all forms of bodywork, and has undertaken training in Feldenkrais and Qigong. In addition he has completed the Posture and Flexibility Teacher Training with Kit Laughlin from the ANU. This is a revolutionary approach to stretching, developed in Australia and incorporating the latest medical and sport research into its application to deepening flexibility.

In conjunction with the Shaun Martyn Agency he has planned and presented programs to corporate clients under the title 'The Body/Mind Mix,' and contributes regularly to 'Australian Yoga Life', the quarterly national yoga magazine. Greg also teaches Posture, Stretching & Movement.

 

Virginia Gillon:

Virginia has been a massage therapist since 1993. She specialises in remedial, deep tissue massage and also has qualifications in shiatsu, reflexology, Bowen Technique, manual lymphatic drainage and lymphoedema, and teaches the lymphatic drainage module and Massage 1 (Swedish) at Karuna.

Virginia has her own practice in Wollongong.
